Students from DeKalb School of the Arts and Lakeside High School Bring Home Awards at First Annual “DeKalb Student Film Festival”

DeKalb Entertainment Commission Partnered with DeKalb County School District to Showcase Best Student Productions

DECATUR, GA — The Academy Awards were Sunday, but these local students were the focus of paparazzi on the red carpet last week. Students from two DeKalb schools were the big winners at the first “DeKalb Student Film Festival” on Thursday, February 21, bringing home awards in the ““Best of Show” and “Audience Choice” categories.  The DeKalb School of the Arts was named the “Overall Winner” for their film, “Locked Out.” The DeKalb Entertainment Commission (DEC) partnered with the DeKalb County School District for this first-ever film festival highlighting student productions.

Jan. 12 Event in DeKalb Teaches Kids About Media Literacy and Video Production

DeKalb Entertainment Commission Supports Kids Video Connection Workshop at Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library

DECATUR, GA — Kids Video Connection, with support from the DeKalb Entertainment Commission, will host a workshop on Jan. 12, “Intro to Media Literacy & Video Production” at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library in Tucker.

The event is open to children ages 13 – 17 and will introduce participants to media literacy concepts and instruct them on script writing and video production. In this workshop, students will produce a Public Service Announcement to promote reading and the DeKalb County Public Library.

Dec. 1: Build Your Career in the Film & TV Industry with Three Classes from the DeKalb Entertainment Commission

On Dec. 1 at Lakeside High School, the DeKalb Entertainment Commission will offer its final series of educational classes for 2018 for Atlantans interested in building their careers in the film and television industries. Classes will include: Intro to the Film Business, Getting Started in the Industry, and Resumes for Film and Television.
