Dekalb County Kicks Off Dekalb Economic Development Week; Recognizes Results of Business Growth Strategy
(DECATUR, GEORGIA) Decide DeKalb Development Authority is hosting a series of events for DeKalb
Economic Development Week to showcase how ongoing efforts to spur economic growth, equity, well- being and quality of life across the county are “Making Business Easier in DeKalb.”
The events during the week of May 8-12, 2023, are meant to highlight programs and resources for businesses of all sizes as well as people seeking opportunities in DeKalb. Decide DeKalb’s vision is to create prosperous communities with opportunities for all which aligns with Decide DeKalb’s hyper focus on helping to create and expand high-quality jobs and direct investment in the county. Economic Development Week was created in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council to celebrate and recognize the contributions made by professional economic developers to create more economically vibrant and livable communities.
Decide DeKalb will be celebrating DeKalb businesses, talent, and opportunities all week long during Economic Development Week with a range of events including the following:
April 25: The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners gave a proclamation for Economic Development Week, celebrating the efforts of Decide DeKalb as well as DeKalb’s municipalities and local businesses in their ongoing efforts to promote economic development.
May 9: “Donuts with Dorian,” a media-only briefing with Dorian DeBarr, President of Decide DeKalb, in which he will give an update on current economic development efforts in DeKalb. Sweet treats and coffee will be provided. Press can RSVP here
May 10: Business Resources 101, in partnership with Better Business Bureau, will be a free event for DeKalb businesses to learn about funding, workforce development, and educational resources available to support business growth. Held at Stonecrest Library (3123 Klondike Road Stonecrest, Georgia) from 4 to 5 p.m. More information can be found here.
May 11: DeKalb Entertainment Commission, a division of Decide DeKalb and in partnership with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, will host a panel discussion, The Business of Entertainment. DeKalb businesses will hear from industry insiders on how their business could be used either as a location for filming or as a service provider in DeKalb’s booming film industry. Held at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center (980 Briarcliff Road NE Atlanta, Georgia) from 6 to 8 p.m. More information can be found here.
