DEKALB COUNTY, GEORGIA — The DeKalb Entertainment Commission (DEC), under the leadership of Decide DeKalb Development Authority, launched a new website as well as unveiled a new logo and visual identity, the first update since the DEC was formed in 2014.  DEC is rolling out its new look in time for its 10th Anniversary in 2024, which marks the next phase of the entertainment industry in DeKalb County.

“Our biggest priority is to bring DeKalb Entertainment Commission’s website and branding to a new level – one that is consistent with how much the Commission has evolved and grown, much like the entertainment sector has in DeKalb and the state of Georgia,” said Shelbia Jackson, Director. “Providing a fresh, friendly, and easy-to-use website is key to our mission of being the heart of the county’s entertainment industry.”

In 2024, DEC will also launch a new 5-year strategy that will focus on continued growth of the entertainment industry in DeKalb which includes Film and TV Production, Music, and Interactive Entertainment. The new strategic plan aims to boost established entertainment businesses while maintaining a production-friendly environment, fostering job expansion, and stimulating economic development. In line with this initiative, DeKalb’s recent growth in studio infrastructure now registers in at roughly 3 million square feet of production space, primarily from Assembly Studios, Shadowbox Studios and Electric Owl Studios. These companies represent nearly $3 billion in economic impact to DeKalb. Additionally, DeKalb’s unique outdoor locations and its 13 municipalities includes Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, vibrant downtown main streets, and picturesque rural landscapes.

DEC’s new strategic direction, new website and new look and feel represents a commitment to its vital role and purpose that has been carried out since its formation: being at the forefront for ensuring that DeKalb is a world-class location that not only benefits entertainment companies but also has an economic impact for the area by providing high-paying jobs and investment within the industry.

“The DeKalb Entertainment Commission has undergone a transformative journey since its inception, emerging as a trailblazer”, said Terra Washington, VP of Marketing Communications at Decide DeKalb.  We are thrilled to embark on the next chapter for DEC, as its fresh, contemporary appearance empowers DeKalb County to make a grander and more impactful presence. The innovative website and reinvigorated branding lay the foundation for DeKalb to continue attracting the entertainment industry and showcasing the diverse offerings that await businesses and individuals alike.”
